Jack Sparrow's compass |
Will Turner told Beckett while holding Jack's compass.
"What is it you wanted most?"
Yeah, Jack Sparrow's compass does not point north nor it may appear not working but this is a strange compass. Jack got the compass from Tia Dalma.
Jack's compass, traded with Tia Dalma for a sack of gold seven years prior to his receival of the Black Spot, was a compact device whose domed cover was made from pure lapis lazuli. The inside lid was detailed with a map of the heavens, and the compass disk itself was sliced from a walrus tusk.
A conversation between Jack, James Norrington and Elizabeth Swan.
"My compass...is unique."
"Unique here having the meaning of broken?"
"True enough, this compass does not point north."
"...Where does it point?"
"It points to the thing you want most in this world."
Yes it is, the compass does not point north but it pointed to the thing the holder wanted the most. In Pirates of Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Jack handed the compass to Elizabeth to find the Dead Man's Chest. Jack gave the compass to Will before he fell from the Black Pearl and Will made a deal with Beckett which allow Beckett to use the compass to locate the Shipwreck Cove. And at the end of the Dead Man's Chest Movie, Jack used the compass to navigate his way going to the Fountain of Youth.

The effect of the compass was nullified by Jack's fear of the Kraken.

Will the compass point me to where I wanted or the needle will just keep on rotating?
